June is Men’s Health Awareness Month!

Spread awareness about the potential health issues all men face throughout their lifetime.

June is Men's Health Awareness Month

12.1 percent of men 18 years and over are in fair or poor health.*
This is why it is so important to dedicate a time to raise awareness regarding men’s health. Some of the reasons why adult men have fair/poor health are due to a number of leading factors.*

  • Annual physical exams are very important for overall health; however, men are statistically less likely than women to visit their doctor for a yearly exam.*
  • Men are more reluctant to visit a doctor when symptoms of poor physical or mental health are present.
  • Men lack awareness about existing health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health.

There are certain conditions that are more prevalent in men, making it extremely important for men to visit their doctor yearly to help prevent any concerning health problem or to detect a health issue early on.

Did You Know: If detected and treated early, prostate cancer has a 97% recovery rate? The 5-year survival rate among men with testicular cancer is 99%?*

Use this time to talk to the men in your life about the different men’s health issues and encourage your loved ones to schedule a routine physical as well as educate themselves on maintaining good overall health. While understanding the importance of knowledge, prevention and early detection, we also want you to be prepared for any unexpected health problems that may arise.
