A Personal Connection
Originally from Fort Pierce, Florida, Shonneka now lives in Cheshire, Connecticut. She is a proud mother of two children, Jaden and Sunni, and also has two dogs, Nyla and Sweetie. Family is an important part of her life and contributes to her passion for helping others create greater security for the people they love.
Outside of work, Shonneka has a strong interest in herbs and natural wellness. She enjoys growing her own herbs and using them to formulate herbal products. That passion has even led her to patent her own herbal detoxification product. When she isn’t exploring her creative side through herbalism, Shonneka also enjoys a little retail therapy.
Whether she is developing something of her own or helping a member navigate their insurance options, Shonneka enjoys finding solutions. Her natural curiosity and desire to help others carry into both her personal interests and the way she approaches her work.
Why Work with Shonneka?
Shonneka leads with compassion, integrity, and genuine care for the people she serves. She takes a forward-thinking, solution-focused approach, beginning with an understanding of each member’s unique circumstances, priorities, and goals. Rather than assuming one solution will work for everyone, she takes the time to explore the available options and identify protection that makes sense for the individual.
One experience that reinforced this approach involved a member who contacted Shonneka interested in Whole Life insurance. Unfortunately, because of the member’s health history, she did not qualify for the coverage she originally wanted. The news left her discouraged and feeling as though she was simply out of options.
Instead of ending the conversation there, Shonneka reassured the member that her goal was to find another way to help protect her family. After learning more about her needs and circumstances, Shonneka was able to identify Critical Illness coverage for which the member qualified, providing an alternative source of financial protection in the event of an unexpected covered health condition.
The member was grateful that Shonneka had taken the time to look beyond the initial setback and help her find another option. Experiences like this are what make Shonneka’s career so meaningful. Knowing she can help families prepare for life’s uncertainties and feel more confident about their financial futures reinforces why she approaches every conversation with persistence, compassion, and a commitment to finding solutions.
