Donna Stepney-Johnson

Donna has been with FSP for 14 years, bringing 14 years of insurance industry experience to the members she serves. Licensed in Life and Health insurance, she specializes in helping members understand their protection options and make informed decisions based on their individual circumstances. For Donna, insurance is about more than providing a policy—it’s about earning trust, educating people, and helping families feel more confident about their financial protection.

Protecting Families with Care and Compassion

Donna’s path to insurance began when a friend encouraged her to consider a career where she could continue helping people with their financial needs, but on a deeper and more personal level. That idea resonated with Donna and ultimately led her to a career centered on helping individuals and families prepare for the unexpected and protect what matters most.

A Personal Connection

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Donna credits the city with helping shape who she is and the values she carries with her today. She now proudly calls Virginia home, where she enjoys spending time with her family as a wife and mother. She also has a fur grandbaby who helps keep life at home interesting.

Donna loves putting thought into making moments special, whether she’s planning a birthday, surprise, dinner, or outing. She enjoys exploring Virginia as well as nearby destinations like Washington, D.C., and North and South Carolina. Bowling, escape rooms, sightseeing, museums, live entertainment, and discovering hidden gems are some of her favorite ways to spend her free time.

Community is also important to Donna. She is involved with the NAACP, the Order of the Eastern Star, and her church, giving her opportunities to connect with others and support causes that are meaningful to her. Although naturally more reserved, Donna describes herself as having a “let’s make it happen” mindset. She enjoys organizing, bringing people and ideas together, and turning plans into reality. Once she commits to something, she is determined to see it through.

Why Work with Donna?

What sets Donna apart is her ability to genuinely connect with people and understand what matters most to them. She doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to insurance. Instead, she starts by listening, asking thoughtful questions, and having a genuine conversation about each member’s needs, goals, and circumstances before discussing potential solutions.

Donna also believes strongly in following through. She brings care, persistence, and her “let’s make it happen” attitude to every member she serves. The trust clients place in her is something she takes seriously, and she feels a responsibility to nurture that trust by providing thoughtful guidance and helping members identify protection that truly fits their lives.

One experience that has stayed with Donna involved a young woman who initially wasn’t interested in Critical Illness coverage. Donna took the time to explain the importance of the protection, including how it could provide financial support in an unexpected situation and how affordable the coverage could be. After their conversation, the member decided to put the coverage in place.

Years later, the woman contacted Donna after being diagnosed with cancer. Her Critical Illness policy provided a benefit when she needed it most, and she reached out specifically to thank Donna for encouraging her to consider the coverage years earlier.

For Donna, experiences like this are among the most rewarding parts of her career. They serve as a reminder that her role goes far beyond offering insurance. It’s about helping people prepare for circumstances they may never expect to face and being a trusted resource who can help protect what matters most when those moments arrive.

We proactively reach out to our membership through outbound calling, email campaigns, and community outreach rather than waiting for members to come to us.
